An Update After a Semester at Emory Law

Ann,

I wanted to give you a bit of an update about how I have been and about my life at Emory Law. I had an amazing first semester of my 1L year and my classmates and professors have already been some of the most kind and engaging individuals I have ever met. I struggled at the beginning after my waitlist process feeling as though I may not belong in the class of students that I saw as smarter than me, feelings that were only created in my mind as a reflection of my LSAT score. However, I have learned, through your help, that once you’re in the door of the school of your dreams the weight of a not so stellar score dissipates rather quickly. I was very pleased with my first semester grades and I am even working with admissions now going to the law school fairs and giving tours of the law school while talking to prospective students about their interest! It has been quite a whirlwind and 360 from where I was this time last year!

I have found a home at Emory Law and have learned that I belong in the prestigious community that once seemed so out of reach to me. Sometimes, when I lack motivation or feel tired from long hours of reading, I listen to the voicemail on my phone that I got back in July saying that I got into Emory Law and it rejuvenates the fervor I have to continue towards my goals.

I was going through my emails and just found a letter of continued interest I sent to Emory as well as the drafted emails I continuously sent them throughout my summer and semester and was shocked at how well written and impactful they were and I truly owe that all to you. The law school process is daunting and having you as a cheerleader by my side all year was so important for me. I feel so lucky to be at Emory Law and I want to thank you so much for everything you did for me for this past year. This has been a dream come true and I can’t wait to see where it takes me.

I appreciate all you have done and just wanted to formally reach out to you and thank you so very much.

Best Regards,
LG
