Jocelyn Glantz, Law School Expert

Meet Jocelyn Glantz, Law School Admissions Expert Consultant

Jocelyn Glantz is a graduate of both George Washington University and Brooklyn Law School. After practicing law for three and a half years, she returned to Brooklyn Law School to serve as the Assistant Director of Admissions. Following her tenure at Brooklyn Law, Jocelyn began consulting for Kaplan Test Prep, providing guidance to prospective undergraduate and graduate students, conducting essay and admissions workshops, and moderating law forums with panels of career and admissions professionals. As word spread locally about her work, Jocelyn simultaneously developed an independent college and graduate school admissions consulting service. After 5 1/2 years, she left Kaplan to focus on her consulting, which had grown steadily through recommendations and referrals from former clients. One afternoon, while enjoying her chai tea latte, she was reading Ann's blog and immediately knew that they needed to work together. A few conversations later, Ann invited Jocelyn to join her team.

"I waited 7 years after starting Law School Expert before bringing another consultant on board. I've been approached many times through the years by people wanting to join the team. However, Jocelyn is the first person whose expertise, philosophy, outlook and personality truly coincide with my own. We are on the same page, and I know from speaking to her law school admission success stories that you will truly benefit from — and enjoy — working with her."

Jocelyn has been both a wonderful help and positive influence on my decision for choosing a law school. I hired Law School Experts even though both my GPA and LSAT scores were alright, but I needed some advice on my personal statement. Jocelyn really helped me to develop a strong and concise statement which highlighted my best qualities. I was recently accepted into an accelerated program and awarded a very large scholarship. Jocelyn, thank you so much for your time and help.

The key factor in the support I received from Jocelyn was her unrestrained honesty when reviewing my essays and personal statements. You generally cannot (and should not) rely on family or friends to tell you when something is not working for you on these essays. Her willingness to tell me when I was moving in the wrong direction was so appreciated. Believe me, you want to know something like this before you submit the essays to Admissions at your top choice law school. Beyond that, her support and encouragement helped me to remain calm during the stressful applications process, which kept that anxiety from spilling over into my family life. I'd recommend Jocelyn to anyone who asked.

—Nicholas B.

I was incredibly impressed with Jocelyn’s quick responses. Every time I sent her part of my application for review it was returned to me within only a few hours, even over Thanksgiving. Her insights and recommendations were very helpful, and I found her very easy to work with. She could be critical without being discouraging. After scoring lower on the LSAT than I wanted to, I was worried about getting into my top-choice schools. Jocelyn worked with me to bring out my strengths and show law schools I am more than an LSAT score. As someone who has actually worked in a law school admissions office, I have total confidence in Jocelyn and her knowledge of the process. I believe her assistance will give me the edge I need to help me reach my dream schools.

Jocelyn is an amazing editor and adviser. I felt so much more relaxed as I worked on my law school applications once Jocelyn helped me refine and edit my personal statement and addenda. After our initial discussion, she knew exactly what I needed to make my application the best it could be. Jocelyn answers phone calls and e-mails promptly, and is always there to push you on to the next step. I feel like I did everything myself, but without her guidance my applications would not have been nearly as good as they are now. Most importantly, you can tell that she truly cares about your individual application, and she really wants to support you as you move on to law school. I have all of my applications submitted, and just need to wait and see where I get in. Jocelyn will surely be the first to know!

I was clearly not qualified for a top 100 law school, let alone top 50- until I worked with Jocelyn. She is an invaluable asset in the application process. She is a game changer.

I had a low GPA with a respectable LSAT score and I had planned to apply to schools on my own. As the deadlines approached, I began to develop writer’s block and found www.lawschoolexpert.com . Jocelyn got in touch with me immediately. During the initial phone call, I told her my top three schools and my definitive number one. After looking at admissions statistics for those schools, I began to realize how much of a long shot I was for all three- it didn’t matter to Jocelyn. With her priceless assistance, I continued to work through the application process. She provided advice and encouragement every step of the way. My first choice school had a later deadline than the others, and so we really focused on it.

Jocelyn is truly remarkable. I couldn't believe it when I was admitted to the school of my dreams. I will always be extremely grateful for her patience, guidance, encouragement, and professional expertise. She made something happen that no one thought was possible. You’d be a fool to not use Jocelyn.

I am grateful for all the help Jocelyn has provided with my personal statement and addendums. She promptly returns emails with revisions to my drafts then schedules phone calls so that we can discuss any other pertinent issues surrounding my applications. Without Jocelyn, I would have been lost and made many mistakes along the way. Moreover, I really appreciated that she genuinely cared. An important lesson I learned from Jocelyn was to write like a lawyer—short and concise. There are many perceived weaknesses in my application, but we were able to present them in a manner which mitigates any negative connotation. Do yourself a favor and hire Jocelyn!

I just finished working with Jocelyn Glantz for the fall 2012 admissions cycle. I am writing this before I begin submitting my applications. I have a below average LSAT score and a good GPA. I am a 39 year-old, nontraditional student. Jocelyn helped me refine my personal statement through several drafts; it now reads like the real story of who I am and what I have to contribute to law schools. Everyone knows the law school admission process can be grueling, monotonous and, at many times, quite disheartening. After receiving a low score on my first LSAT due to illness, I was extremely discouraged, as I had prepared for months and felt I could do better. Jocelyn's patient guidance, realistic attitude and sound advice gave me the self-confidence I needed to sign up for the next administered LSAT. I ended up improving my score by 11 points and ranking within the 92nd percentile! Other than my family, Jocelyn was the first person with whom I wanted to share the great news!

I remembered her words so clearly, "go get that higher score and let's start drafting your score differential addendum!!" That was exactly what we did.

Throughout the whole process, she never boasted unrealistic possibilities and always made sure I was careful in my school selection. After receiving my first acceptance letter, I knew working with Jocelyn was one of the best decisions I could have made during this process! I received one of the school's highest merit scholarships awarded and still have high hopes for acceptance to my other top choices.

Aside from her professionalism, EXTREMELY PROMPT responses and being among the best in her industry, Jocelyn exemplifies genuine benevolence and a remarkable passion for helping her clients. I consider myself very lucky to have met and worked with her!

—Behnaz S.

Last year, I applied to law schools and did not receive admission to any of them. After consulting with Jocelyn, I not only received admission to more than one school, but also received a substantial scholarship and fellowship opportunity. Without her assistance, I might have given up. We worked together on my personal statement and it contained the same information but in a more engaging manner. Writing about yourself in a positive, yet humble way is a difficult task, but Jocelyn guided me through every step of the process. I was extremely proud to submit my applications. Thank you, Jocelyn for everything!

—Jessica V.

Thank you so much! I wish I found you months ago! You have made me so much more confident and prepared. I am submitting my first application tonight. I am so happy!

—Lindsay B.

I was so nervous applying to law schools because my LSAT score was significantly lower than the 25th percentile for my dream school. Jocelyn encouraged me to put in an application anyway, claiming that although I would not be a typical admit, you never really know what might peak the interest of the admissions committee. I submitted my application and braced myself for the rejection.

At this time, I have received acceptances from several schools I never thought would even consider me and I am currently waitlisted at the school of my dreams! I am confident this is a direct result of working with Jocelyn! She really knows how to package an applicant to give them the best possible chance at success.

—Audrey G.

I feel much more prepared than I did a year ago and really understand what is going to be required of me in law school. Thanks, you're seriously the best.

—Stefan M.

I cannot believe it has been over a year since I applied to law school. Now, well into my first year, I can honestly say that I would not have gotten to Penn without Jocelyn's guidance and support. I always knew that I wanted to go to a school like Penn, but for a while it seemed that the LSAT was not going to let that happen for me. After receiving my first LSAT score I was overcome with disappointment and incredibly discouraged. It only took one phone call with Jocelyn to calm me down and get me back on track. She was always honest and realistic with me about my chances of getting into certain schools. Her knowledge of what schools look for in a memorable personal statement was invaluable to me, and the exercises she gave me to help me get started on mine were helpful and thought-provoking. Jocelyn made applying to law school a more manageable process emotionally and made sure that I stuck to my goals and timelines. I cannot imagine applying to schools without her help!

—Samantha K., 1L, Penn Law

As I prepare to head to law school, I know that I would not have had as much success as I did in the process without Jocelyn's help and expertise. Her experience as an admissions officer gave her great perspective in what schools look for from their applicants. Though we lived hundreds of miles apart, Jocelyn always made herself available to me and was extremely easy to talk with.

When I first started working with Jocelyn, I had a rough draft of a nine-page personal statement and needed to condense it into two pages without taking away from a story that was very important to me. Even though we never met in person, I feel that after one phone conversation she had a deep understanding of who I was and what my story meant to me. This was extremely important because when Jocelyn helped guide my essay into two pages, it very much remained my voice telling my story.
