Great Resource for Would-Be Public Interest Attorneys

Aaron at Equal Justice Works pointed out a great resource for those of you considering a career in public interest law – it’s a resource guide, but not a ranking, of law schools and their public interest offerings.

Is Law School Worth the Investment

A very good starting point for this discussion should be read by ALL law school applicants. (Yes, even YOU.)

On the ABA blog, see this article about whether law school is worth the investment. And, as an added bonus you MUST read the comments. Usually I hate the comments to these articles because they are written by disgruntled, rude, unprofessional people. However, these comments are (for the most part) an extremely valuable part of the discussion.

Please take 5 minutes to read this. And then add a few schools to your list where you might be considered for scholarships and/or where you might be able to live on the cheap.

I look forward to your comments and feedback on this one!

That Darned 250-word Yale Law Essay

A great post on the Yale Law blog about 5 things to avoid in the 250 word essay.

Getting Accomodations for the LSAT

LSAC is notoriously stingy with granting accommodation requests for the LSAT for law school applicants faced with disabilities, but now LSAC posted a new video tutorial that explains how to get through the request process. For those of you dealing with these issues, I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the tutorial. Here is the link for the video.

Do You Really Need to Disclose Speeding Tickets?

I get a huge number of questions about what needs to be disclosed on law school applications, and applicants are especially annoyed when schools want to know about traffic tickets. Here is a great explanation from Washington and Lee Law about how to respond to these issues and why it’s important to do so.
